PRESS RELEASE: Larry Long to Speak at Children's Conference

November 7, 2008

Larry Long, Director of Community Celebration of Place, to Speak at the Children in Scotland's Annual Conference
November 6-7, 2008

From the flyer:

Children in Scotland’s annual conference will look at how those working in the children’s sector can share learning experiences and move towards deeper cross-professional understanding, examining the impact local communities can have on their children’s wellbeing.

Collaboration and information sharing between families, professionals, and community groups has become commonplace, but working together has its unresolved challenges:

• how can communities make the most of their local knowledge to make the difference to children’s lives?

• what kind of information sharing and professional collaboration has the biggest impact?

• the bigger picture: recognising and learning about a child’s history, and working to help shape their future demands a different kind of professional collaboration and understanding.

Larry Long, US troubadour and director of Community Celebration of Place, will be addressing the conference.
