December 2, 2013

Crystal, MN – Forest Elementary School will host a community celebration honoring Dr. Connie Grumdahl on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

This Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s SongTM community celebration is brought to you by Forest Elementary School in partnership with Community Celebration of Place (501-C-3), Robbinsdale Area Schools and the West Metro Education Program (WMEP).

Janine Brinkman Gagnon, Classroom Music Teacher, and Mark Hoornbeek, Social Worker, have been working with 4th grade students and staff at Forest Elementary School to collectively write a song in honor of Dr. Connie Grumdahl.

Dr. Connie Grumdahl has dedicated her life to education for forty-two years. She’s been the Principal at Forest Elementary School for eighteen years. Wife, mother of four, and grandmother to many, Dr. Grumdahl grew up in a large family and experienced poverty as a child yet achieved a remarkable career including an undergraduate degree, two Masters Degrees and a Doctorate in Education. Dr. Grumdahl shared her life story with the students. She also shared lessons she has learned including words of wisdom about ‘Truth, Love, and Forgiveness’ and "looking for the good" in all situations. Dr. Connie Grumdahl is retiring as of the end of December 2013.

This EWCS celebration/performance will include a song in honor of Dr. Grumdahl and other tributes to her lasting contribution to Forest Elementary School and her tenure in the Robbinsdale Area School District.
