Sanford Middle School will host a celebration honoring four Sanford community elders at the Sanford Middle School auditorium on Thursday, May 22, 2013, 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM.
Nerstrand School's first Community Celebration took place fifteen years ago when Larry Long spent a week in residency at the school.
Community Celebration of Place has received grants for the 2012-2013 school year from MRAC and the Office of Diversity to further their work in the community.
In Memoriam
Lawrence A. Brown, age 92, of Golden Valley, MN, passed away on March 14, 2012. A Tuskegee Air Man and State Department Tax Agent, Mr. Brown shared his story with the students at Cityview in 2008. The kids wrote the song, Freedom, Freedom Over Me! to honor Mr. Brown.
