Hmong International Academy Presents Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s Song™ with Smithsonian Folkways recording artist, Larry Long

Minneapolis, MN – Hmong International Academy will host a community celebration honoring three elders in the Hmong International Academy gymnasium on Thursday, May 17, 2012, 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM. Address: 1501 - 30th Ave.North, Minneapolis, MN, 55411. Free and open to the public.

The Elder Wisdom, Children’s Song™ community celebration is brought to you by Community Celebration of Place (501-C-3) in partnership with Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and the West Metro Education Program (WMEP).

Long, Executive Director of Community Celebration of Place and creator of Elders’ Wisdom, Children’s Song, has been working with 3rd, 5th, and 8th grade students at Hmong International Academy to collectively write songs and gather recitations that honor the life stories of the following community elders:

Popular "Prairie Home Companion" Guitarist and Songwriter Pat Donohue and Gospel Singer Tonia Hughes Join Larry Long and Robert Robinson at The Dakota For Two Shows November 20

In celebration of Give to the Max Day 2015, Larry Long will be performing songs written in honor of elders with community members. Larry’s performance will capture the many cultures of Minnesota. All proceeds from his performance will go to Community Celebration of Place.
